Community Classes at the Deering Estate at Cutler

Beginning Yoga
Instructor: Marlene Shulman
Practice postures and focused breathing techniques that will help you achieve a sense of well-being and self-control while strengthening your body.
Tuesdays, October 4 – November 8; 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Wednesdays, October 5 – November 9; 10 am – 11:30 am
Cost: $60 for a 6 week session plus a one-time $12 annual registration fee.

 

Vinyasa Yoga
Instructor: Zamanta Archibold
For beginning and intermediate participants. The intention of this class is to move in a consistent flow. Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” The technique utilizes the flow of one’s inhalations and exhalations in coordination with the poses, better known as Asanas. This style covers a broad range of yoga and its strength is in its diversity. There is no single philosophy, rulebook, or sequence that the teacher has to follow, so there is a lot of room for individual personalization and quirks to come through. Students should bring a yoga mat, blocks and straps.

Pilates
Instructor: Celia Maluf
Increase muscle tone, flexibility, and strength with controlled movements that engage your body and mind. Pilates Mat and 14” Power Circle required.

Focused Awareness Meditation
Instructor: Peggy Gaines
To build a balanced life, you need inner strength and focus. Focused Awareness Meditation provides the tools to help you cope with the demands of everyday life. Through the practice of meditation you will experience multiple health benefits including increased relaxation, reduced blood pressure and improved concentration.
Wednesday, October 12 – November 9; 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Cost: $60 for a 5 week session plus a one-time $12 annual registration fee.

Music Classes for Youth
Instructors: Ms. Laura Wilcox and Mr. Rafael Ramirez from The Greater Miami Youth Symphony
In this course, students ages 4 and older will be introduced to string instruments – violin, viola, cello or bass – and will learn to read sheet music. Students must bring their own instruments.
Saturdays, October 15 – November 12; 9:30 am – 10:15 am (ages 4-6)
Saturdays, October 15 – November 12; 10:30 am – 11:15 am (ages 7-10)
Cost: $50 for a 5 week session plus a one-time $12 annual registration fee.

The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 am & 3:00 pm. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 pm (October – May).
